Cornelius Pickleball Programs

Lake Norman Pickleball Association is excited to partner with Cornelius Parks and Recreation to provide educational clinics. We will be offering clinics in multi-week series that will build on different skills each week. We will also be offering one-day clinics targeted to one specific skill. Clinics will be based on skill level. Signing up for the correct skill level helps both you and the instructional group get the most from the lesson. Please see the current clinic offerings below.

LKNPA does not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation. We offer a scholarship program for those that meet qualifying criteria. If you feel you may qualify, email Dave Mancuso (dave.lknpickleball@gmail.com) for more information.

LKNPA members need to login prior to registering to receive member discount. If you are not a member, but would like to join to receive clinic discounts and other benefits, please click the Join tab above for more information.

    Spring Ladder League - Beginner/Low Intermediate (3.25 and under) 5:15 - 7:00p.m. Session

Ladder leagues are organized leagues in which players sign-up individually and compete against each other in a structured weekly format. The rungs on the ‘ladder’ represent a player’s current position (ranking) on the ladder relative to the other players. Over 8 weeks, players will play in a round robin format with the other players on your assigned court.  Scores are tallied weekly, and players will move up or down the ladder depending on their performance, creating quality matches each week for all players.

We ask that you consider your skill level and your availability when selecting a session.  We will likely have more people wanting to play than spots available so we ask that you not take a spot if you believe you will be unavailable two or more nights of the session. Players who have an excessive number of weeks they are unable to participate will not be able to register for future sessions.

The league options that are available are as follows. Please note that we have mixed up the groups to offer options to those who couldn’t play on previously designated days.  As a reminder, only select ONE session to register for as we have a large amount of interest.
    • REGISTRATION FOR THE LADDER LEAGUE OPENS ON MARCH 8 AT 8AM.
    • You register for the ladder using LKN’s website on or after March 8.  You cannot register before then.
    • Register HEREwww.lknpickleball.com/Cornelius-Programs
    The sessions are:

    • Thursday 5:15 to 7pm – High intermediate / Advanced (over 3.25 rating)
    • Thursday 7:15 to 9pm – Beginner / low intermediate (under 3.25 rating)

If you are not able to commit to 8 weeks but want to be a substitute player when someone will miss one of their weeks, then you may signup to be added to the sub list.  Please register for the appropriate sub list based on your skill level.  The Ladder League committee will seed the substitute players as we do the ladder league players to ensure fairness on the courts.  Membership is required for both playing as a registered player in the league as well as being a substitute player.

Looking for an alternative activity for lunchtime? Why not get outside and improve your pickleball skills? These mid-day clinics will be limited to a small group of eight players and two instructors for an hour of focused skill-building.

This clinic will focus on the first two shots of every point.  While sometimes taken for granted, consistent and well-placed serves and returns can provide you with a competitive advantage.  Attendees will learn why good serves and return of serves will set them up for success.  Your instructor will cover different types of serves and returns and the best spot on the court to place these important shots.

Do you feel like the transition zone is your biggest weakness?  Don’t worry a lot of people feel the same way.  Learning how to keep your paddle low while moving through the transition zone and moving in a controlled manner will result in transition zone success.  Join us for the clinic as we will be focused on using resets, good positioning, and controlled movement to get from the baseline to the kitchen line.

Do lobs frustrate you?  Do you just give up on them when they're hit behind you?  Attend this clinic to learn how and when to execute your own lobs effectively and also the most efficient and safe way to retrieve lobs.  Since overheads are a natural by-product of lob defense, we will also focus on hitting firmly hit but well-placed overhead winners.
